An OSF EA Women Social Project
Initiated in June 2007, the sewing
workshop Mama Africa is a women’s project that intends to empower
disadvantaged women within Kangemi slum and help them to earn their living. It
gives 10 women an opportunity to be trained on sewing marketable items such as
various clothing (skirts, pyjamas, shorts, gowns, ponchos...) and accessories
(bags, baskets, cases, towels, baby accessories …) out of colourful cotton
kikois.
An income generating project
Part of the workshop profit supports
the Kangemi School Resource Centre that is an OSF-EA initiative to provide
Kangemi children with education.
You are most welcome to come and
visit Mama Africa in Kangemi!
