Thank you to all who have helped!

OSF contacted many potential donors and partners in 2006, such as Embassies, Foundations, Private Companies and NGOs. Through a number of meetings OSF got a lot of advice and information on potential future funding for its projects.

OSF has successfully attracted funding from individual donors in Belgium to cover the organisation’s running costs and organise its regular activities.

Friends and Family

So many of you have been so committed in helping out that we have managed to raise almost 10,000 Euros thanks to your generation efforts and donations!

We would especially like to thank some of you who were willing to donate up to 1,000 Euros for the cause.

Generation Europe Foundation (http://www.generation-europe.eu)

Generation Europe is not only a committed humanitarian aid supporter, it is one of our primary donors and sponsors.

The foundation has just donated 7,000 Euros towards our Resource Centre project and will fund the purchase of 3500 textbooks for the new library. Generation Europe is also providing our organisation with a paid administrator and contact in Belgium: Elizabeth Clarkson has been with us since March 2007 now, and will continue to persevere with various fundraising and promotional activities as well as maintaining the OSF website.

Generation Europe also supports and sponsors many other worthy causes; The Future Work Forum, The European Policy Centre, The European Federation for Responsible Drinking, The European Baha'i Business Forum, Dyslexia Tools & Technology (DiTT), Musique Vagabonde musicians, Brussels Musical Instrument Museum and Cancer Research.

Trócaire (www.trocaire.org)

trocaire

Trócaire has been a fantastic supporter for our projects and has donated 7,800 Euros towards projects supported in Uthiru area.

Trócaire’s efforts focus on working for a just world where people's dignity is ensured, the rights of individuals are respected and where basic needs are met. Trócaire was given a dual mandate: to support long-term development projects overseas and to provide relief during emergencies; and at home to inform the Irish public about the root causes of poverty and injustice and mobilize the public to bring about global change.

Thank you!

The Embassy partnered with us in our development projects and has considered supporting us in purchasing a gutter and tank system for the Uthiru Sewing Project.

The French Embassy, Nairobi (www.ambafrance-ke.org)

The Embassy has made a very generous offer to help us cover the costs of developing the Kangemi Resource Centre, without which, the Centre might still be an OSF dream. The Embassy decided to further sponsor our projects by helping to set up the Resource Centre computer  lab and the basic running fees and to forward the salaries for our 3 principal Resource Centre staff. The Embassy covered the salary fees for the first few months upon the opening of the Resource Centre,  The Resource is expected to have developed enough to have finally become self-sustaining.

En Avant Les Enfants! (EALE) (www.enavantlesenfants.be)

EALE donated 25kg of material towards our Sewing workshop enabling us to continue the training courses when there was a severe shortage of sewing material.

EALE supports numerous projects in North Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The aim of these projects is the ongoing and sustained development of the quality of life of children and youngsters.

In collaboration with local partners, EALE has set up projects for children in need: orphans, those that have been demobilised or displaced by war, and street kids. EALE ensures the continued and effective operations of these projects.

The World Food Program   (WFP) (www.wfp.org)

WFP

The WFP has generously offered to help our Resource Centre with Feeding Program training. Unfortunately, due to the increasing demand for food support throughout the globe, the WFP was unable to offer us any of this support this year. OSF has been added to the WFP waiting list and is expected to start receiving food donations from WFP in the coming next 2-3 years. WFP has become so stretched over the last few years due to such an increasing demand from thousands of NGOs like our own at OSF. Here is a good cause that is in desperate need of further support!

Among the Millennium Development Goals, set by the United Nations for the 21st century, halving the proportion of hungry people in the world has always been the WFP top priority.

Thank you for your great efforts and show of support!

The International School of Brussels (ISB) (www.isb.be)

ISB

ISB has been of invaluable support towards OSF over the last year (2007). Its support for OSF began when it graciously welcomed our request to run a fundraising raffle on the school grounds. The raffle was organised as a fundraiser to purchase cows for the projects with Children. Thanks to a brilliant team of middle school students and incredibly generous teachers, OSF was able to raise 900 euros – more than enough to purchase 2 cows for the children at Uthiru.

Following this great event, OSF later approached ISB asking for goods donations for its container it was organising in October 2007. Mme Frankard from the ISB middle and High school was of fantastic help and succeeded in gathering hundreds of books together for us, including dozens of folders, an OHP and much, much more!

Thank you Mme Frankard and ISB for your generous help !

The British School of Brussels (BSB) (www.britishschool.be)

Thank you BSB for welcoming OSF to your library where we were able to collect tonnes of books for our container in August 2007! Your generous offer certainly helped fill the container for us!

The BSB is also a warm supporter of a charity similar to our own, "the Giraffe Project", which also supports children from the Nairobi slums. BSB has welcomed the Giraffe Project to the school to give small presentations to its students. Thanks to these presentations, the Giraffe Project has been able to procure many more student sponsorships for its children down in the Nairobi slums.

Thank you for your generatious donation into our CARITAS-OSF account – you were one of our first!

Jennifer also donated a large amount of goods for the container including books, stationary and a computer! Every little helps, but it’s these big donations that can of make the real difference!

Thank you for your generosity and interest in our cause!

To all the Container and Flea Market Donors

Thank you all so very much for all of your generous donations. Thanks to all of your efforts we have been able to fill an enormous 20 foot container (28 meters cubed!) with up to 11,000 books, 30 computers, 6 printers, 5 OHPs, 300kg of sewing material, hundreds of folders and stationary equipment, 7 desks, 10 shelving units and much, much more!

We will certainly be keeping you posted on any more ‘goods collection events’ in the future!

THANK YOU!
